A hydrophore system is used to maintain a constant pressure in the lines supplying the various parts of the ship.
water is kept pressurised by an coloumn of compressed air.
STARTING OF SYSTEM FROM SCRATCH.
1.put both the pumps in manual and start one pump to fill up the hydrophore tank from the main fresh water tanks. Fill up more than half of the gauge glass and then close the main outlet to the consumers.
2.Now open the air charging valve and pressurise up to 4.5 bar in the pressure gauge attached to the tank. And now open main consumer valve.
3.Now the pumps can be put in auto and must be checked for auto cut-in and cut-off.
4.When the consumers are started and pressure falls to 3.5 bar the pumps cut in to fill up the hydrophore tank from main tanks.
5.The pump cuts off when the pressure rises to 4.5 bar.
